Lindy Hop dancers in motion

About

A swing toolkit for the Lindy Hop community: a Romandie events agenda, moves on video and a playlist generator.

Hi, I'm Jean-Pierre.

I dance Lindy Hop in Geneva, and I build web apps. It all started with a problem: I began organizing Lindy Hop parties without any DJ experience, and keeping a dancefloor going all night is harder than it looks.

So I created a tool to help me. You give it the tempo, the era and the mood, and it builds a set with a proper energy curve: a gentle warm-up, a few peaks, then a soft wind-down. That became the SwingHop playlist generator.

Then I was missing something else: a place to keep track of all the spots to dance in French-speaking Switzerland. The information was scattered across WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages and word of mouth, so I added an agenda that gathers the socials, classes and concerts around Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg and the whole lake, kept up to date week by week.

The latest tool started on the dance floor: I kept failing to find a move I had learned in class and then forgotten. So I gathered the Lindy Hop and Charleston moves and the jazz steps, each with a short looping video and three cues to reread before asking someone to dance. Anyone can browse them, and with an account you keep your own list. See the moves

SwingHop is a small gift to the Lindy Hop community, wherever you dance. A question, some feedback, or an event missing from the agenda? The form below lands straight in my inbox.

See you on the floor.
