Cuddle

6-count · Beginner

A twelve-count move, two sixes, where the couple dances side by side for a moment, wrapped up together.

  1. Starts in open position, both hands.
  2. Raise the left hand: the follow turns counter-clockwise into the lead's right side, arms wrapped.
  3. Unwind the same way to come back out.

Understanding the move

Count by count

  • 1-2: rock step with long, relaxed arms; the hand only goes up after that, on 3.
  • 3-6: the follow travels toward the lead while turning; the lead's right hand stays low, at the follow's waist.
  • 1-2: rock step side by side, both facing the same way, hands crossed at waist height.
  • 3-6: the follow first steps forward to come out, then ends up facing the lead.

Usual mistakes

  • The lead raises the hand too low: the follow's head runs into the arm.
  • The follow goes limp in the arms: without a little tension the lead can't lead the exit.
