Understanding the move

Count by count

  • 1-2: rock step, arms long, the joined hands stay low.
  • 3-4: both step toward each other; the hand goes up over the follow's head and the lead passes right next to them.
  • 5-6: the lead turns half around to face the follow, hand still high, and brings it down at the end.

Usual mistakes

  • The lead grips the hand and the follow's wrist twists. Keep it loose, like a ring.
  • The lead raises the hand too late: the follow has to duck.
