Understanding the move

Count by count

  • 5: as the hand goes up, the lead's right hand is still on the follow's back and helps start the turn.
  • 5-6: the left hand passes over the follow's head as they turn while still travelling toward the end of the slot.
  • 7-8: the hand drops back to the waist and the couple finishes with a triple step, arms stretched.

Usual mistakes

  • The lead keeps the hand low: the follow has to duck under it.
  • The follow spins on the spot: they end up too close to the lead, with no stretch.
